Tidepools

The story of one woman’s journey swimming in and out of the flotsam and jetsam of life. This hour-long performance takes the audience for a ride in the waves with the story of finding and living love only to be caught in an undertow of loss and grief that eventually drifts back onto the shore in a tidepool of realized joy.

This hour-long solo show was first presented at the Fillet of Solo Story Festival in Chicago, January 2023. We are now taking Tidepools on the road and hope to be part of your Fringe Festival season.

*Performance can also include talk back and a Workshop on creating personal narrative stories. Click here to learn about workshops.

Tidepools is a solo show that is rich in heart and spirit. It’s a love story about being reshaped, reoriented and transformed. Francesca is a beautiful writer and performer who knows how to captivate an audience
— Arlene Malinowski, Chicago storyteller and coach extraordinaire

Every wave comes with a memory, a longing, churning into another memory, another dream. Standing at the water I can’t tell the difference between then or now…

In between dread and fear there can lay jewels of delight.

Joy is what brought Pep and I together; Joy is what will feed me in his absence.

Production Requirements

The basic requirements for performance are minimal. This is a rather intimate piece so well-suited to a small space. While performing in a theatre is always optimal, it is not a requirement. The story can adjust to the shape of the space, proscenium, thrust, and so on.  Having said that, the ideal:

Stage dimensions
The dimension of the space should be a minimum of 10x14feet in dimension.

Lighting
Ideally there should be lighting to delineate three areas of the stage: center stage, downstage left and upstage right. Colors would be optimal, but not required.

Sound
There are music cues and sound effects. We will need a sound system to amplify. If the space requires vocal amplification, we have a remote microphone but will need to connect to your system. We have a USB with all sound cues.

Props
A bar height stool, a side table for a book and water bottle to sit, and ideally, a small rug (To define space.)

Staffing needs
Stage manager that can operate a light and sound board and run the show.

Marketing
We can provide the necessary marketing materials.
